First Direct CC help/advice needed

Hi all,
Can anyone help me with this query or have any previous experience of it.
I'm thinking of going BR at some stage and I have been in the process of writing to my creditors since November offering £1 token payments as that is all I can afford as I'm on benefits.
The majority have accepted, but First Direct refused point blank from the start. After numerous letters to them and phone calls from them they still would not accept my offer and issued a Final Demand on 13/1/10 and if not paid will pass the debt onto a DCA on 10/2/10.
At this stage I wrote to them and asked if they would consider writing the debt off due to my circumstances-low income- and high debt level (knowing that they wouldn’t but thought I would try !). Again they refused and said debt would be passed to DCA on 10/2/10.
I have not heard anything from the DCA as yet BUT today received a CC statement from First Direct showing a credit on the account for £1 (my token payment) but also a credit for the full outstanding balance !! clearing my outstanding balance but they have then charged interest.
I am a bit confused now, I don't think for one minute they have written off my debt but is this the process they use when the debt has been passed to a DCA.
Does anyone have any answers/experience.
Many thanks.

Can be, if it has been assigned (sold) to a DCA they zero the ballence for some reason (have seen it before, not sure it was First Direct though), just a bookeeping excerscise most likely.
It is unlikely it has been written of, you never know, but unlikely.:(Thats it, i am done, Blind-as-a-Bat has left the forum, for good this time, there is no way I can recover this account, as the password was random, and not recorded, and the email used no longer exits, nor can be recovered to recover the account, goodbye all ………….

Certainly not when they can get a few pence in the pound for it by flogging it to a DCA.Free/impartial debt advice: National Debtline | StepChange Debt Charity | Find your local CAB

UPDATE
Received letter from Metropolitan DCA (part of HSBC) and phone call wanting full payment of debt. i explained this was unlikely as I can only afford £1 token payments as I had previously been paying to First Direct.
They asked about my situation and I have sent them a token offer letter and Financial Statement. Still waiting for a response.
They did say they would send me a DD mandate to fill in to start paying £1 per month from 12 mar. They can send it but won't be filling in as I send payments by standing order (that way I'm in control not them)0 -
I'm in similar situation and had a form to complete from Metropolitan on which I ticked for payment book, and this week had a letter from them accepting my offer letter and a standing order form, which I won't set up because I have a coop cashminder where I'm saving my BR fees in it so not using that for anything else.....0
