National Express 'Funfares'

Saw a great deal with National Express into London for £1. But when I tried to get 3 more seats for hubby & kids, cost came to £100+!!!
Yet when I went back in, I was able to buy 4 seats as an Adult for £1 each again.
So if the seats exist - why are they charging £1 each for them (£4), but if I buy them as 2 adults/2 kids - they want £100???
Can they do that? Easy way would be to buy 4 seperate seats at a £1 each - and have 4 sepertae e-tickets in my name - but how would I get around using Adult seats for the kids - can they stop me.
Very irate and confused.

Their booking system works much like the airlines, in that it will only sell you tickets of the same price. So if there's only one £1 fare left before the £6 fares start, it will charge you for two £6 fares. (Could be that child Fun Fares don't exist and it's trying to make you buy full fare tickets.) I found this problem when I last booked a Fun Fare: two tickets in the same transaction was £12, doing it separately was £7. They're never likely to change it as doing so would cost money, and also lose them money on ticket sales.
I can't imagine them stopping you using an adult ticket for a child, only the other way round.0 -
Same with the Travelodge cheap rooms too. Try to book two £15 rooms and they mysteriously won't have the second one. But buy one and then buy another later (with your cache and cookies cleared) and you can get them both for £15.
Just business, I suppose, but leaves a sour taste in the mouth.DFW Nerd 0350 -
They definately have the rooms - I have emailed them and will see what their response is.
If I get no joy, I may just book 4 adult seats for 4 of us.0 -
I used this the other day £8 return to London, as opposed to £40 on the train.Hi, we’ve had to remove your signature. If you’re not sure why please read the forum rules or email the forum team if you’re still unsure - MSE ForumTeam0
