Credit Card charge reclaim

I've got two CC's of which I owe a fair bit of money on and cannot keep up the repayments, have sent offer of monthly payments to them on advice of cccs but as there are quite a few charges on them I wondered if it was still ok to do this as it would come off my balance owing.
Also, are there any sample letters anywhere I could use please, I've looked around but can't find any.
