Hi
I have been thinking of getting a loan for a little while now to buy a motorbike.
i am on a good income employed by a blue chip company but paid by a contractor firm of which i have been employed by since 04/12/07
i earn before bonus ect 18500 a year, after bonuses 32000 approx but i only ever put down my basic wage,
i have a bank account with nation wide of which i have a 1200 overdraft of which at various times of the month i go into for approx 600
i also have a argos card with a limit of 230 and currently at 160 as ive just moved and am furnishing.
i recentlly got a comet card with a 600 limit and am up to 200 of which i paid 100 back the following month after buying my washing machine.
i have just moved into a part buy part rent property, and am looking to purchase a part of the property in the future.
i would like to get a loan for 3500, 1000 to pay of the cards and bounce my account up and 2000 to buy a 125cc motorbike
im not to sure where to go and apply but will say my bank nationwide will not give me anything i dont know why either as i have never missed a payment ect and have a credit score of 660-720
i was thinking of hsbc
please can somebody advise me

It may simply be that lenders see your current debt - cards, overdraft, part buy/rent property, etc to be too much in proportion to your income.0

Did nationwide actually do a credit check and refuse you?
Have you had a copy of your credit report (not your score the actual report?)
Is there anything there shouldnt be on there? Is it still showing any old credit accounts that you are not using but have forgotten to close?A smile enriches those who receive without making poorer those who giveor "It costs nowt to be nice"0 -
no never refused me but my uncle works for them and said they wont give me anytrhing due to the way i abuse my overdraft like a cheap credit card (1000 for 3 months at a charge of 7 pound ) cheaper than both a loan and a credit card0

You sound gay billijay.
Anyway Nationwide are a bunch of nazi's so don't bother with them if they've already fired a warning shot accross your bow. To apply for a loan from another bank you normally have to be a customer to get a good interest rate. Why not try alliance and leciester or someone that comes up on those price comparison sites?
At the moment not many people are making it easy to get money so you just need to have a good look around but avoid high street banks, it's unlikley they'll accept you if your not a customer.
Or get a card that lets you do a balance transfer into your account on 0% for 12-15 months like EGG or MBNA.
Good Luck0
