All paper currencies eventually reach their intrinsic value i.e zero
What we are seeing is a slow race to the bottom.
How's the bunker coming along?;)
This latest fall in cable is due to USA raising their depost rate. In simple terms, the Chinese were unhappy with the return on some US treasuries so sold a lot ($34bn). The USA increased rates to keep them onside, and the US$ rose because it now offers an increased return. In case you hadn't already worked it out - the entire global financial system is predicated on the assumption that you're an idiot:cool:0 -

Other countries will buy from us 'cos it's cheaper and we produce so much great stuff which they really want?
Another person who thinks the only exports worth having are those in Masefields "Cargoes" poem.
Dirty British coaster with a salt-caked smoke stack,
Butting through the Channel in the mad March days,
With a cargo of Tyne coal,
Road-rails, pig-lead,
Firewood, iron-ware, and cheap tin trays.
How are we ever going to be Great again without making our own "cheap tin trays".
