tried to sneak out with 2 birds up my jumper - however, i also tried sneaking out some frozen fish fingers down my trousers at the same time and collapsed with hypothermia before I got passed security!
Damn, still bought the chickens (apologies to the farmers being squeezed) but left the fish fingers... well i knew where they had been!............... Have you ever wondered what

We bought a couple the other day. Cooked one and got a roast for 2 adults and 1 child and then with leftovers got a chicken casserole for 4 people. Could have boiled the bones too for soup but am away this weekend so not much point.
I was very impressed by the amount of meat on these chickens, if only they were £2 more often. We don't eat alot of meat now (with prices these days) but could certainly afford to at £2 a pop.0 -
at £2 they are loss leaders - and sadly it means the farmers get well and truely... pecked off. Supermarkets often require the farmers to pay for these scheme and they are paid a poultry sum as it is. So these things are great whilst they are cheep, but it does not happen often. Don't hen peck your store for these details often - and freeze when you can. a bird in the hand is better than two in the bush. and to keep an eye of the schemes just keep clucking on the ASDA or MSE website. and crow about it whilst you can. !!!! a doodle doo!
Seriously - the birds were medium size (i think) and ASDA's smaller bird was costing £3 something. There is no way this will be too frequent simply due to costs - but I am sure (like me) it got a few people in the store.
Emstick - I am assuming breast meat went with the roast, and wings/legs/thighs/dark meat when in the casserole - but well done for spreading it! I would say if you dont have time for soup boil the carcass with an onion in a small amount of water for some basic stock - then store in airtight jar or freeze. Then next time your cooking some rice use this as it adds so much flavour................ Have you ever wondered what
