Declaration of Release?

Has anyone ever won a prize, but had to sign a "Declaration of Release Form"
I just entered a npn instant win competition (and won), but then I got a email saying
"In accordance to the Rules & Regulations of the contest, you will be asked to fill in and sign a Declaration of Release form before your prize can be delivered to you."

Does this sound like a scam or do you some times have to sign these?

This is the website I won it on, has anyone ever heard of them?

Thanks in advance

  • As I understand it a declaration of release means that the company supplying the prize is not liable for damages, losses or injuries caused by you accepting the prize.
You dont say what prize you won, I think it is normally used for prizes of holidays but is probably standard procedure for any prize. Obviously make sure that you read the small print before signing anything but it sounds reasonable to me.
Please bear in mind I am no solicitor and I am sure that there are many more knowledgeable people that read this board.

  • Well done, nice to win
Will cover them if you plug the stick in and it screws your computer up I guess.
