Woooohooooo!!!

As you may already know i completed a Personal Training course, which due to getting it on finance was costing me £4500 (£136 per month) However for the past 3 months, i havent been charged, so i called the finance company, and they don't have me on their system, but i have received my certificates, so looks like im clear of £4500 worth of debt:rotfl:

Ha! they wont monitor your account for you

you will have to check it yourself. If you still owe it, then the company will realise their mistake eventually and come looking. You just better hope its more than 6 years away if you're not going to force the issue (which, morally, you should)

  • Fantastic as this sounds I wouldn't be happy unless I knew what had happened. I'd call everyone who might know, bank, school where you did the course etc. I'd try the finance company again if I were you and use every reference number you have. I'd bet good money you've either got a useless callcentre newbie or there's a system glitch.

However, assuming someone can clarify that the debt has been either written off or paid in full, that's awesome news!

Sorry for the confusion S @ 19. No debts is the name of the troll who posted. Don't worry about it. It's probably a 12 year old with nothing better to do with his time.

I would recommend checking your credit report to see what it says about this debt. They may be telling you that you are not on their records, but that may just be a computer error. They may be reporting your non payments as 'defaults' on your credit report and you don't want that, so please double check to cover your back.

Also you mention the finance company says you are not on their system, that could mean they haven't made payment to the course provider, so you may get them chasing you for the funds.

I'd agree its best to check your credit report and then perhaps wait cautiously in the hope you don't hear anything.
But remember that you could in theory be chased anytime in the next 6years from your last payment, so it could surface, even if not for a few years.
Unless you can get both the finance company and the course provider to write you letters confirming you don't owe any money - which I doubt they would be willing to.
