does anyone know if barclays are connected with the following

going BR next month,, just checking if anyone here knows if barclays are anything to do with: mbna.. lloyds tsb, nationwide or halifax,,, i am trying to open basic barclays account but its being held up.. just concerned they are to do with my creditors

Hi, I dont know for definate but i dont think so. I seem to remember when the banks were being bailed out that lloyds tsb and halifax got help but i know that barclays didnt need any so they are not linked, mbna are a huge company i believe so i doubt they are linked and i dont think nationwide are, i am an ex barclays customer and i dont remember there being a connection

No, Barclays is not financially connected with them not on the consumer market anyway.0 -
Lloyds TSB owns Halifax, MBNA is owned by Bank of America, Nationwide is now owned by sandater (i think), barclays is not connected to any of themHi, im Debtinfo, i am an ex insolvency examiner and over the years have personally dealt with thousands of bankruptcy cases.

Nationwide is not owned by Santander! It is owned by its customers and is a mutual.
Other one worth trying if you get stuck is Co-operative. Some of the ones you have tried aren't that bankruptcy friendly.

Barclays have almost taken 3 weeks so far.... I really don't know how I'm going to get my pay next week!!!!! Maybe coop would of been quicker praps !!!!0 -
It's Abbey and Santander that I think you're meaning. GE Money is now Santander too (I think!). I didn't know Lloyds owned Halifax, shame Halifax isn't as on the ball as Lloyds.0
