Wristband for world poverty!
Comments

That is one way of looking at it but I think the wristbands that are given away free have already been bought and paid for, the idea of giving them away is to bring awareness to the problem of world poverty to a larger number of people so that it will enhance the chance of more people giving to the charity, at a guess they probably cannot be sold legally again, I could be wrong.trisontana wrote:If you go into any Oxfam Shop you can buy one for £1 . I cannot see the logic of a free one . At least your pound will go some way to relieve world poverty.

It's such a good way to raise money and show awareness.0 -
When you are in the Oxfam shop you can also put your name to a petition to be sent to the leaders of the G8 countries at their next conference . Give it a go.What part of "A whop bop-a-lu a whop bam boo" don't you understand?0

Regarding the reselling , we had a school teacher come into our shop the other day. He bought a 100 and is going to re-sell them to his pupils. Any more money he raises above the £100 will also be donated. What part of "A whop bop-a-lu a whop bam boo" don't you understand?0

You can have a free one or even several free ones, there is nothing stopping you from purchasing more or even just putting money in a box. A freebie does not alter giving to charity. Just enjoy.coolcam7 wrote:Oops I can spell really!
I didn't know you could buy them from Oxfam but I agree much better to pay for one and give the money to a good cause. Thanks

What I meant was, the wristbands that are being given away in some cases are probably bought by a third party and the people concerned to give them away probably cannot charge for them.trisontana wrote:Regarding the reselling , we had a school teacher come into our shop the other day. The ones free from Save the Children are like children's plastic snap wristbands and are quite large. They are not like the blue or yellow ones.0

Again they're £1 but the individual charities or organisations pay for them and then sell them at a small profit to not only raise awareness etc but also to raise a bit more money for the cause.0
