What about scrubbing him down with a wire brush and wrapping him in cling film?
That ought to stop the gunk on the sheets...!

Ok ok

I don't like Bio powder because it makes me itchy but for really manky clothes and sheets I use bio on the hottest wash I can (90deg) then wash again with non bio.
I tried Morrisons powder and found that it made me itchy as it's got perfume in it. I presume that the perfume doesn't make your husband itchy?Just run, run and keep on running!0 -
My dad started with his eczema when Ariel first came out years ago. Dad didn't know what it was - he had inflamed skin on his neck and arms, the doctor said to him "if it can get egg stains out of material, what do you think it's doing to your skin?"
Mum and dad have used non-bio since, and so do I cos DS has eczema now.0 -
Well, if I use perfumed fabric conditioner it 'eats' his ankles, so I don't. Haven't for years. We've been on Morrisons washing powder for a couple of years now, I know that sensitivity can start a while after you change something, but his skin hasn't changed - it's just the gunk on the sheets (and his dressing gown!) that's suddenly appeared.Jay-Jay wrote:Ok ok

Off to see what happened with soda crystals overnight ... If that hasn't done the trick, it'll have to wait till I get back from me hols ...
Edited to say they're better, but then they have now been shaken, washed, shaken, washed and shaken again ... Hanging out to dry!Signature removed for peace of mind0 -
Persil non-bio has always been OK for my daughter's eczema although we're about to try Sainsbury's non-bio (said to be suitable for sensitive skin and dermatologically tested) because it is on special offer (2 for same price as one Persil). My daughter isn't sure about this - says I'm willing to sacrifice her skin for the sake of a couple of quid - so I'm having doubts now too (but for all we know it IS non-bio Persil!)
As far as eczema generally goes - we've always found that sea water is a maracle cure. Fine in this weather but we have attracted a bit of attention dunking a howling child in chilly seas on less balmy days (yeah - remember last Saturday, says my now 22-year-old daughter).
We've tried sea salt in the bath but never been able to get the same effect. Will try the oatmeal though.0 -
Just to add (or back up) things that have worked for us...
Wash grubby sheets in Ariel Bio first then wash again (without even taking out of machine) with small amount of non bio and extra rinse - not moneysaving but it works amazingly well!
Organic porridge oats in net bag (or cut foot off pair of tights) and run the bath water thro it (then swirl it round in bath) - really really helps reduce eczema.
Pure Potions Skin Salvation is helping at the moment too. Worked much better than the gunk!!MTC NMP Membership #62 - made it back to size 12 after my children & I'm staying here!0
