Help with pricing (ds lite)

Hi all
Succumbed to pressure today and bought 2 x DS Lite bundles for my youngest children. Was going to order them online and apply for an Argos Card but the two games wanted were oos, so reserved them for collection at store. Here is my reservation:
Now when I got to the store, I was charged £259.94, broken down like this:
Now I now that Argos say the price you are charged is what the till says and not what my reservation number says, but I collected about an hour after reserving so can't see the offer being changed that quickly!
I can't make head nor tail of how they have applied the bundle discount, and want some opinions as to whether or not I have been overcharged? If so, what's the best way to complain, store manager, helpline or a letter?
TIA for any help

Ah happens all the time, bundle setup on the tills are terrible.
Best bet is to go into store with your reciept and proof of the bundle you wanted. and explain the situation, depending on who serves you will depend on the outcome, some managers are arsey they may require you to have the items with you. But its not difficult to sort. CS will probably tell you the same if you tried ringing them.0 -
do you shop at boots?
If so there is a very very good deal at the moment where you can get the DS Lite for approx £60. i say do you shop at boots because they do charge more but give you a lot back in boots points which equates to a £60 spend per DS Lite.
Might be worth considering if you wish to refund and go elsewhere. The thread is on this forum somewhere, posted v recently.
You could then order the games from a cheaper site such as play.com.0 -

I was looking at Boots (all those lovely points!) but they were sold out online, and according to customer services, they're not currently sold in the shops. I know somebody said on the Boots thread that they got a GBA + 3 games for £75, but none in my area have ever sold GBAs.
I will go back to Argos with the docs like Mack has suggested and hopefully see someone who can sort it out. I did pull the cashier up about the price, but she didn't have a clue what to do about it and it was already 4pm so thought I'd wait until I got home to try to figure it out.0 -
Awful is another good description. Especially if you are trying to do a bundle from a res!!! :wall:Mack wrote:Ah happens all the time, bundle setup on the tills are terrible.Mack wrote:Best bet is to go into store with your reciept and proof of the bundle you wanted. and explain the situation, depending on who serves you will depend on the outcome, some managers are arsey they may require you to have the items with you. Great advice above, also ask the gal/guy on cs to get someone with keys for all the sodding refunds and voids that need doing to balance the stock, the till and all the reciepts to what they should be. From what you've shown the price of mario (568/0573) need to be adjusted to £9.99 (down £20) on the receipt and the white ds (568/0236) needs to be put back up to the correct price of £99.99(up £10). It then should match the original deal from the web (£249.94).
If anyone reading does ever want to buy more than one of any argos "bundle" instore then seperate them out to seperate res's and transactions (i.e. buy one complete DS bundle on one receipt, then do the next on another) it cuts the frustration of the daft way bundle deals work on the tills! :wall:

Couldn't get there yesterday until after six, manager told me I would have to come back today when HO was open. Went today and %$£&!!! What a blinkin' nightmare that was! Was there for well over an hour trying to get it sorted.
First the manager phones HO and they told him to refund everything and then put the bundles through seperately. So the manager refunds my card, then tries to put bundle one through comprising:
Nintendo DS Lite Black.
568/1857--1
£99.99
Super Mario 2 - DS.
568/0573--1-£29.99
Nintendo DS Accessories Kit.-567/8688--2
£19.99
Total: £149.97
No bundle discount was taken off, so another call to HO follows. HO says that the Mario game is not part of any deal, only the older Mario game. I argue that the game is included according to the website, and according to a flyer that was released last month - details as posted by Mack, here. I know that the games are not in the main cat. but then I don't think that the Lites are either, are they? Manager reluctantly agrees to manually deduct £20.
Try to pay for it with same cc that refund has just been processed on, flipping comes up with a referal. Manager goes off somewhere, while I'm waiting I realise that there is probably too little credit available on my cc until the refund has been processed (these cc companies are so quick to deduct any spends but so slow to make refunds show up on your account!). Told this to the manager when he came back but he phoned Egg all the same.
What a mistake, they had him on the phone for about 20 minutes passing him from one person to the next, I almost felt sorry for him  He was trying to argue that he had just processed a refund so there should be enough available credit ... Teehee. Sorry it wasn't funny at the time but it's tickling me now remembering the frustration on the manager's face. Boiling hot day, packed shop, too few staff in relation to customers - typical Argos! The manager didn't have a clue what to do, I already had the goods (at home) and now I'd been given a refund, and Egg were not letting him have authorisation for me to repay.
Time was passing and I had to hurry up because I had to collect my youngest from nursery. I offered to use my debit card, just so I could get out of there. I know for a fact that I haven't got enough money in my current account to cover the price of both bundles so it's going to go on my overdraft, rather than my interest-free cc.
On a brighter note, the other bundle went through with £30 discount!

Nintendo DS Lite White.
568/0236--1
£89.99
Nintendo DS Accessories Kit.-567/8688--1
£14.99
Brain Training - DS.

Total: £109.97
So a there is a glitch somewhere on the white Lites, also previously reported here.
As soon as I got home Egg were on the phone about "unusual activity" :rotfl:
The manager was very apologetic and everything, and I got the bundles £10 cheaper because of above error, but still, as soon as I can muster enough energy I might still write to HO to complain about the sheer inconvenience of it all. I had to make two special trips to sort it out, the store is 5.17 miles away from me according to the online Store Locator, so not like it's a case of just nipping across the road. I've wasted about 3 hours of my life in total. Plus I'll be charged interest on my OD, and my cc funds will be limited for however long it takes to process the refund. And I haven't even mentioned the problems I had on Sunday trying to buy them in the first place!
(For the curious, I got there at about 15.53 and the doors were locked, shop is supposed to close at 16.00. I banged on the window until a male member of staff looked up, made gestures at my wristwatch. He just pointed back at his LOL. He had to open the doors to let other people out, so I argued with him that it was now 15.55, he said the system shuts down at 16.00, and he had to go with that time. Told him if the system was shut down, I wouldn't be able to get served anyway, would I(?) so where's the harm in trying! While he was trying to think of a comeback, I walked passed him to a till expecting to get yanked back by the scruff of the neck but he didn't stop me. Cashier who served me said the F word twice, other members of staff were also openly swearing. But the system WOULD let me be served, till receipt says time was then 15.57!! Received goods at 16.00 exactly.)
Sorry for the long post and thanks for the above replies. I will never, ever buy more than one bundle at a time from Argos again. Well not unless there's a glitch in the system that will work in my favour! :rotfl:0 -

What the hell - I think a complaint to head office is in order. Perhaps you'll get vouchers. Unprofessional staff.0 -
The toysrus deal is better than that one at Argos IMO...I bought a DS Lite a few weeks ago from Toysrus. For £129.99 I got the following
DS Lite Console
Super Mario (The new game that's just recently come out)
Starter pack (Extra stylus's,storage pouch etc etc)
Plus ANY one game from the £29.99 range
The offer is in store (And on the web I believe)0 -
