Just been told by recruiting agency my CV is not a match?

I have to agree here. My experiences of recruitment agencies are generally negative as I have had some awful experiences.
For example, given the wrong location for interview which I ended up missing, being telephoned to inform me that I had been selected for interview and I would be informed at a later date of the time - which did not happen.....I can go on..... I just hate using agencies.
Unfortunately, the reality is that many companies use recruitment agencies and most applications for jobs today are through such organisations.
Same here.
They lie about everything from salary, hours, locations, duration of contract. I've been to an interview were the employer didn't even start the interview because I had holidays booked (and agency had lied to both of us about dates).
Another job they lied about location but found the job advertised on the employer's website, and it was too far for me to travel to!
The worst is going to interviews and look like a pillock who cannot get basic information right!0 -

As they say the definition of madness is doing the same thing and expecting a different result. I was just trying to suggest a few new ideas OP might like to try
I suppose it depends on the sort of skills you are offering. My kids have always got their first jobs this way, but my OH tried it when he was out of work in the mid 90's, and it was a total waste of effort as it brought no responses at all. I'd be very doubtful I'd find the sort of job I was looking for 'en spec' either. Please forgive me if my comments seem abrupt or my questions have obvious answers, I have a mental health condition which affects my ability to see things as others might.0 -
Oh dear... once an agency that specialises in recruiting for local government (councils/social services etc) told me I was not a suitable candidate because I have no experience. I almost choked and asked the woman if she was looking at the right CV! I didn't get any further with them, especially as I forwarded my cv to them again with my work experience in councils and social services highlighted! haha!
I might apply to be a recruitment consultant just to find out why they lie all the time? I'm even suspicious about their ads because they make the job out to be good with good money... I've heard that before

Some agencies / companies use software packages to do an initial assessment of applications / CVs - if you don't have the right buzz words expected for the key competencies then it never progresses to the having a human being look at it.
So, it's really important for the CV to be biased towards the particular field of work of the company / agency.:hello:0
