Can't afford maternity wear!

Well if you can't afford a few quid for some maternity clothes, good luck giving a child a secure upbringing.
It gets easier once the child arrives with tax credits and child benefit to add to the budget.. and it isn't 'a few quid' unless you can pick up bargains you are looking at £20-£30 for each item.. that's a big chunk of money when you are having to buy everything for a baby with no additional income.
Easy to be judgemental when you aren't so strapped for cash you don't know how you will be able to pay the next bill and have no experience.

The Mrs got hers from ebay, sold them afterwards. Very very cheap.
I'm sure everyone could afford what we spent on them.Freedom is not worth having if it does not include the freedom to make mistakes.0 -

Thanks again for all the ideas....I'll go to asda tomorrow for a look...although I reckon I'll look horrendous in leggings lol!
I am 99% sure I have some Next maternity stuff knocking around I will have to check the sizes as I am not sure if its 18/20/22 as I was all those sizes with my 4 but if I have a look I will send some on to you. They are summer tops mainly so would be cheap enough to send if you'd like?

Ebay - I got a good bundle of maternity jeans, work trousers and a few tops for a tenner including postage.
I bought a load of smock type tops in the Next sale and they covered my bump upto 37 weeks (until I had him) and will fit normally in the summer.
Child Benefit & Tax Credits more than cover the cost of a baby once they come along, Breast feeding is free and babies don't need many clothes.
Nice helpful supportive comments there :TA very busy Yummy Mummy to a 1 year old gorgeous boy :smileyhea
Where does the time go? :think:0 -
Just wanted to add, you don't need much so long as you're prepared to wash often - I only had one pair of black mat trousers, one pair of black jeans, and two bump t-shirts. I just wore other cheap extra-large t-shirts the rest of the time. I'd agree that bras are the biggest expense!:heartpuls Mrs Marleyboy :heartpuls

Way to make a fellow money saver feel better! The lady was looking for advice not cheeky offensive remarks from people who presumably dont know what she's going through.:(

The thought of spending £30 on a pair of jeans for a few months makes me sweat now!..

I got 2 pairs of maternity jeans for £10 each in Next Clearance, so you could check there too. I only bought 1 maternity bra towards the end. I couldn't do without underwiring so just used my normal bras and bought extenders which was much cheaper.0
