International payments

Hiya...
I need to make a one-off payment to Australia, I've normally made international payments via Worldpay at HSBC. Their rates are not exactly great though so I wondered if there is a better way/method to do this i.e. maybe less fixed charge or better exchange rates? Any particular bank that is good for such payment?
Thanks

Banks will only do transfers for their own customers.
There are other money transmission companies available do a search on Google.0 -
Hi Lychee
I always recommend online international transfer companies over the banks as the savings in rate exchange and transfer fees can be considerable. There are lots out there and its worth comparing rates on offer. I usually recommend justeuros.co.uk as I have used them on a regular basis for quite some time. Rates are top and level of service has been such that I've never had a problem (genuine personal touch). Other companies I may suggest contacting would be onlinefx and currencies direct, they seem pretty competitive too. As I said its worth shopping about for the best rate, but make sure you are quoted the true rate of exchange not the interbank rate shown or quoted by some firms (unless you're transfering millions you wont get that rate!!)
Good luck, hope I've helped a little.0 -

Thanks very much for your help, THRIFTY1, I have had a look at justeuros & onlinefx and they look good! justeuros have even said they will try match exchange rates if I find it better elsewhere.0
