im not sure how this works josie but if you dont pay your mortgage for 9 months, then Housing benefit may pay it.

Do ask the CAB about this and if its an option for you?

I always thought if you had a mortgage you couldn't get housing benefit?

and now cos he has gone back to work , got a letter this morning suspending council tax benefit!!! but before he was off work we were granted council tax benefit on low income.

had estate agent round this morning , house valued at 89,950
(pay back mortgage+early redemption fee = 75,000) but there will be estate agents fees+solicitors out of that but estate agent is no sell , no fee .
but debts are 25,000 , so how would anything left be shared out among creditors?

what does anyone know about the companies that buy and rent back? waste of time or good idea? considering we are thinking of going back into rented

Oh josie I bloody feel for you, I expect selling is no good either as you will be lumbered with EA fees on top and no one will get anything out of it

HB wont pay your repayments but can help with the interest payments.

Ive sent you a PM xxx

    update:

well we have been turned down for the secured loan , so going on priority homeless list for council .

I went to a job agency this afternoon ( fri) and had an assessment , it seems my typing speed was 87% and have an interview for call centre work 4 days a week , pays 6.50 ish an hour but now i feel under pressure to do well at the interview but my interview techniques are rubbish, i never know what to say when they ask " why do you want to work for the compnay?" I've never done call centre work. and won't get paid for another month

Call centre, been there, did a year :)

    YOU DO
    - Like helping people resolve problems
    - want to get to know specific customers (if the company has them) so you can build a relationship with them.
    - Follow queries through to completion
    - Enjoy working as a team, helping out others if you do not have any work
    - Go the extra mile to help your customers (phone them back to remind them you havent forgotten them if a query to a supplier etc is taking a while for instance)
    - Feel comfortable using your typing skills on the phone
    - Prefer to deal with problems yourself but know when it is time to pass up to a superior.

    YOU DO NOT
    - Enjoy talking to people (you're working, not having a chat)
    - Need telling what to do all the time (you have initiative)
    - Make personal calls :D

    Good Luck!

    Cons

They'll charge you for a valuation
you'll get little for your home compared to what it's worth, may not even reach the threshold to pay off your debts :(
