Ideas for a cheap christening

I need some help, i am getting my DD christened next month and i have booked the venue, booked the church but i am looking at ways to keep the kids entertained. There is about 40 children attending (i know a massive family) and i have looked into the idea of getting a children's entertainer for a couple of hours. Has anyone got any other ideas or have they had a child's entertainer and would they recommed to get one??

We are trying to keep the cost down as much as possible, my brother is paying for the buffet and the venue is pretty much free (just a small cleaning fee).

Any ideas or suggestions would be greatly apprecaited

Thanks

When I had to entertain kids at functions, I made them a goody bag with simple things , like crayons, pictures to colour, (printed pictures from clipart, a bit of a kit to make their own, birthday cards. And quizes.

And a bouncy castle and if you`ve any room, a variety of large card board boxes to make a den.

  • What about the old traditional things that didn't cost much like tail on the donkey. Maybe a more modern version or use Eeyore?
I've been the pinata things in Tesco I think then buy sweets (£shop) from what I remember it took a while to smash it so should keep them entertained for a while. Though with 40 kids I'm not so sure
