Yeah that's ok if you're not a single mum surviving on money!

Been there done that, still no problem, however did mean I had to cancel a fair few services and cut back for awhile to build up a buffer zone.
It's PAC not PAC Code, it's MAC not MAC Code, it's PIN not PIN Number, it's ATM not ATM Machine, it's LCD not LCD Display, it's DVD not DVD disc... It's no one not noone, It's a lot not alot, It's got not gotten... Panini is the plural of panino - there is no S!!

It's all well and good telling somebody to cut back and create a buffer zone, I have a buffer zone myself. However, how much of a buffer zone will 100% protect you from erroneous direct debit payments? £100? £500? Even having a buffer zone doesn't provide certainty that your telecom provider will "provide" another numerical error (amazing that 95% of the time errors are higher payments) and charge you £5000 for something?

The fact is that we shouldn't have to leave a buffer zone in the bank at all and lets not forget that a lot of people these days are operating on such a low budget that they are unable to cut back on services, as most of the services that use direct debits are gas, electric, phone, council tax, rent etc and if you hadn't noticed, the charges for these services are on average the highest they have ever been and therefore it is a very different situation to even as recent as 2 or 3 years ago.

Anyhow, I'm pleased doobiesis has eventually found a method of contacting somebody who is prepaired to help her. Have a great day!
  • Just out of curiosity doobie, you wouldn't mind sharing that e-mail address would you? My sister got walloped for a £400 bill from BT because of their incompetance and though they have now switched supplier, I know they want recompense for the time, effort and worry at a time they really didn't need it (she was due to go into hospital to have a back op!)

I'm not complaining, I'm supporting the process of continuous improvement. :p

Stepping off the property ladder for now, may climb back on later.

  • The email address you need is ian.livingston@bt.com I've used it in the past, they're the only people at BT you'll ever get any sense out of!
