  • So their time spent pushing the buttons is paid for how?
The software that provides the buttons to push is paid for how?

    Pointless questions!

And the staff are paid a salary to do the job.

The fee is outrageous but feel free to carry on asking pointless questions!!

I worked in a call centre in policy enquiries and we did not charge to amend DD dates.

Why didn't you suggest that they do make a charge? You could have been employee of the month.....:rotfl:

And the money from that comes from where? Falls out of the sky does it?

Just because you clearly don't understand the point someone is making it doesn't mean there isn't a point.

Not pointless questions at all. It's how the business works, they can only make cheaper products (and therefore get repeat business) by applying charges elsewhere. They need to recoup money from somewhere. It's up to the customer to check the terms and conditions (and relevant) charges and if you're not happy with it, go to a different company. You signed up to it and therefore agreed to their terms and conditions, which would include something about that fee. If it doesn't, challenge it.

  • If you feel it is an unfair contract term then I refer you to this.

  • I didn't take the loan out. It was the OP.

However. I do think its a ludicrous amount to charge for changing a DD date.

    Just MHO though.

I happen to think that £3.30 is a ludicrous amount to pay for a pint, but it is up to me whether I buy it or not. (I usually do)

Then unless your OH plans on challenging it as an unfair contract term all they can do is ask the company involved to waive it as a goodwill gesture, maybe by way of official complaint.
