Garlic Bread issue

I always get Iceland garlic bread, I always follow the instructions, but when I take them out of the oven after cooking the wrapper always melts even when I follow instructions, and the garlic bread isn't cooked, I never really put it back in the oven, fear that the wrapper will melt onto bread, or cook without the wrapper what could I do? Why do we cook it in a wrapper?

Make your own garlic bread. Toast slices of baguette or ciabatta lightly, then rub with a peeled garlic clove and drizzle very lightly with olive oil.
Much cheaper and crisper than those supermarket ones which never quite turn out right!0 -
I always make my own with an ordinary baguette and some butter, garlic and parsley. Pound the garlic with a touch of salt, chop the parsley and mix both into softened butter. Slice the baguette diagonally at 1 inch intervals, not quite all the way through. Insert generous quantity of garlic butter into each gap. Wrap in foil and bung in hot oven for 10 mins. Lidls garlic bread is really nice too, they also do a herb bread - they don't have inner wrappers and you just put the bread in the oven. They are only 39p for 2 at the moment.Organised people are just too lazy to look for things

No idea about the wrapper, but ive had the same problem with iceland garlic bread, when it looks cooked, i take it out the wrapper, slice it up and lay the pieces on a baking tray an put back in the oven checking them every 5 mins or so.
Well thats what i used to do before i started making my own.

Do you have a fan assisted oven? Try cooking on a lower heat for a longer time.0

I also make my own, but if you want to carry on with the Iceland ones, I would recommend discarding the plastic wrapper and using foil instead.
As an aside, I use large packs of Lidl part-baked petit pains when I make my own, add my own garlic butter, wrap in foil and then stash the spares in all the odd spaces in the freezer ready for when the urge strikes!
I should say 'when I used to make my own....' I have now started a save money while losing weight thread and should be putting thoughts of garlic bread aside for a while......

Thanks for the posts, but I was asking whether people had used Iceland Garlic bread and found that the plastic wrapper had melted. Thanks for all other suggestions0

I've used icelandic garlic bread and just stick it straight onto the shelf - no wrappers or anything... doesn't that work? Try it without - I've never read instructions on garlic bread!
Not been poisoned and haven't had to pick plastic off my garlic bread so I must be doing something right?Tim0
