Okay for £329 but typical Woolies advertising, it was never worth £800 :)

Doesn't seem to be wireless enabled whereas the Tesco one for £300 is with similar spec.

That looks good. I dont know how well Medion are in terms of h/w. But for that price and spec, it doesnt look a bad deal
Hard disk is a bit small and slow also. No bluetooth or wireless but dont expect everything at such a low price like this.
Not bad for a 2nd laptop, I reckon its most ideal for teenagers doing their homework or going away to uni, or the person who uses computers occasionally.

Don't spend five pounds to dry clean a shirt. Donate it to the charity shop instead. They'll clean it and put it on a hanger. Next morning buy it back for two pounds.

Don't forget 5% cashback thru Quidco. Should knock £16.50 off the price.

you can usually pick up a dell inspirion 1300 for similar price (wait for a offer to appear!). The dells are better in the sense they have a better battery life and are wireless enabled.

The dell warrenty is also sound in my opinion.

    Thanks

The thing with those brands is that you buy what is there without the option of upgrade and in some cases, repair, later. The parts are damned hard to come by, the specs are usually hard to find, and some repair shops won't even touch them. Like the poster prior to me I'd suggest a Dell, long term they are a much better investment.

    WHY DO PEOPLE NEVER LEARN?

YOU WOULDNT BUY BREAD OR MILK FROM PC WORLD, SO DONT BUY COMPUTERS FROM TESCOS OR WOOLWORTHS.

remember, with laptops, you get what you pay for.
when i worked in a pc repair shop we had dozens of tesco computers (desk and laptops) in which were often only a few weeks old.

    BUY AT YOUR OWN RISK.

EDIT: ohh, and the specs are not at all good... an unbranded processor, 256mb ram? and only 40gb hard drive? for £300 i would expect it to be coated in gold.

The only quibble I'd have is the RAM - and that would involve the question "Can I upgrade this by inserting more or would I have to replace the existing memory?" This would depend on how many menory slots there are and how many are already occupied.

A 40GB hard disk? Blimey, when I was young....

The CPU is a Via. These guys make good x86 (i.e. like AMD/Intel) based processors. See:
    http://www.laptopical.com/23651-c7-processor.html
    http://www.pcstats.com/articleview.cfm?articleID=1833

Via's processors are normally very efficient (and so cool without needing very noisy fans). Often used in HTPC (Home Theatre PCs) as you can then watch your DVDs without having to strain your hearing beyond the noise of your PC. In a laptop this would mean you can put the machine on your lap without needing asbestos thousers, and the battery should last more than a paltry 2 hours!

(Edit: Just looked at the spec again, they quote a 2 hour battery life. Oh well...)

    Don't be blinded by brand...

(Another edit: By no means assume I recommend this laptop, I'm just saying the processor isn't necessarily bad! I agree with the opinion that buying a Dell laptop's a good one, but that's because I've dealt with Dell laptops for the last eight years and know what to expect.)
