  • Ok I am a mortgage and insurance broker, your broker may want to sell you loads of insurances as we make quite alot of money from them, I would suggest you get some buildings and contents. With regard to other insurances it depends on your circumstances and age etc, I would consider income protection and if affordable critical illness cover (critical illness normally has life cover built in) if only going for life cover decreasing term will be cheapest option but many clients still opt for level term (please put this in trust, it is free). Next look at joint or single policies. Try and have half an hour chat with an IFA or similar, this shoul also be free
  • She wasnt pushy at all actually, here is what she quoted me.....

Buildings & Contents £30.94 per month (Santander)

Mortgage payment protection (Redundancy & Sickness) £30.91 per month (Santander)

Life Cover £16.53 (with critical illness £67) per month (Royal London)

Not sure if they are good prices or not, tempted to go with halifax for buildings & contents, £100 cashback plus £50 back every year you renew.

Nobody can tell you whether these are value or not for many reasons, they are just monthly payments

    1 B & C - Sum insured? AD or not etc, etc

    2. PPI - Benefit amount, excess period etc. etc

    3. Life /CIC - Sum Assured, term, smoker or not etc, etc.

    Exactly

Without having your details in front of them no one will be able to compare.

I would be surprised however if they could not be beaten on price and/or cover.

They are the main two.Life cover is important as it will pay the mortgage should something happen to either of you.Buildings and contents insurance will cover you for all kinds of mishaps and problems.
However,i guarantee a mortgage broker won't offer you the best deals on the market.

£70 a month for critical illness cover! How stupid of me.
