FC, wouldn't spittalfields area be cooler.....? Again, haven't been for AGES, years,,,,but felt more buzzing there to me..with the Ken overhaul is it now not trendy retail spot more than where you are looking? Prices in shops and stalls rocketed by 2005/6 ish...when I can't have been since....0 -

is it great for retail?
Whats replaced charing cross rd....which also felt...on respirator to me...whats in the chain book store with the starbucks (forgotten name, we even had a thread here about it) now?....
I miss London
Great Portland St and Gt Tichfield St are full of rag trade and textile agents/companies. It's where a lot of wholesalers are based...though nowhere near as many as years back.....bigger companies can be anywhere in London. Many brands have gone East too. Plus internet as changed things.
Shoreditch would be OK and is more 'me' but I want an 'all in one' premises with everything in one place incl storage...not masses but some.
I can see me taking over the London house and renting showroom space as and when we need it.
We can rent storage up there quite cheaply but having everything in diff places is not efficient. It's just rolling around in my head at the moment...what to do next.0 -

I just had a little chuckle to myself. My first job in the area was in Warren Street. It was a very odd area back then. Kenneth Williams lived nearby and had quite a nice house nearby. He used to shop in the Warren Street dairy. Then next door to us was the Warren Street squat where the likes of Spandau Ballet and Boy George used to hang out before they were famous. Possibly not quite mainstream enough for your family lir, but I think you would have loved it!Please stay safe in the sun and learn the A-E of melanoma: A = asymmetry, B = irregular borders, C= different colours, D= diameter, larger than 6mm, E = evolving, is your mole changing? If the charity I know have something avaialble I will snap it up. She remembered me when we spoke and I was a model tenant...never missed a rent and was clean etc. My old studio is still vacant but too small for us now which is a shame as it was right on Brick Lane.lostinrates wrote: »OK...cool, thanks!

I have to wait for a vacancy though...
I did a Brick Lane day 2 sundays back..it's buzzing more and more up there esp the new markets in the Truman. We have a concession in the area too.
I love the singers who stand on the street, belt out their music and sell you their CD for £3. Indie retailing thrives up there.
I took the Canadian cousins up there too and he was bowled over as he said in Canada, people just don't do that.....it was all very inspiring to him.
He wants to move to London when the kids are older to pursue an arts based career.0 -

Do you remember that company on Whitfield Street fc that sold nothing but trimmings? I wonder sometimes if that's still there. I used to love going in there (we used to use it for some pretty odd interior dressing). Please stay safe in the sun and learn the A-E of melanoma: A = asymmetry, B = irregular borders, C= different colours, D= diameter, larger than 6mm, E = evolving, is your mole changing? I don't know....which is my fault, I can't get my new sim in the new phone, it has the PAYG thing in it, so don't have cousin's number to call, and she doesn't have this (new sim now is old number)..but she's probably in the hospital no call zone anyway DH, is not concerned at all and HAS GONE to the thing I could have gone to with out me (although I'm glad). There was no news at 8:30 when he went in, she was not round yet, but has been ''done''....my friend who was operated on yesterday is causing trouble already, but I'm stuck here coz I have to feed her puppies, tomorrow morning...
ooh, DH has just come out...early nights now...we're getting old,
...still no news... (but he said the gig was great...priorities..you know?

Even more reason....in fact just writing about it here is making me feel to go back to E1 instead. It's handy for so many things except the Real life land big concession...but L St is only a few stops.lostinrates wrote: »See, you'd be close enough to DH for me to swing by for coffee.....
I know lots of people in the area too.
I just thought I could snap up some cheap prime W1 space for less but looks like a no no...in noho.:o0
