Trying to be debt free but work is costing me so much!!!!

Hi everyone, I have just come on here for a rant really so here goes! My job is doing my swede in!!!! Everyone seems to be rich and want to go out all the time. Tonight for example they are in the bar and friday they want to go to town. Then I get a monthly bill from our bar for £15 which everyone hasto pay (but I bet im the only one that has to budget for it!) AND my boss wants me to buy a peice of equipment that is going to cost me over £100!!!! So I can compete in her team that im not even interested in! I am new to the job so I dont want to let anyone down or seem boring but I simply have more important things to spend my money on RATHER THAN BEER! I want to debt free , but maybe Im becoming obsessed? I felt guilty last night because I had to spend a fiver on a preggers test (negative, phew!) and that was sainsburys own brand! My boyfriend has said that I have begun talking about money too much. Then again he is loaded aswelll.........am i becoming too much of a scrooge or am I right to want to be debt free as soon as possible!?

sorry to moan but i had to get it out!!

  • Yes, you tend to get pressured to bow down to your peers in my job but I refuse to do it! Being debt free is the most important thing to me at the moment as I kno the misery it is causing me and has caused me in the past! I am determined to do it! Id rather go without a social life for the next 2 years than spend akk my money out and end up still in debt five years down the line! :rotfl:

You HAVE to pay a bar bill?? i wouldn`t plain and simple! it isnt in your job description that you HAVE to waste your wages on bar nights out!!!!

Maybe tell your boss your unable to pay for the equipment and that tbh your not interested in doing whatever it is right now.

I am new to the job so I dont want to let anyone down or seem boring but I simply have more important things to spend my money on RATHER THAN BEER!:T I want to debt free , but maybe Im becoming obsessed? No your not its called being careful!!

I felt guilty last night because I had to spend a fiver on a preggers test (negative, phew!) and that was sainsburys own brand!

Pregnancy tests all work the same £ shop one do the job just aswell, if you go a family planning centre they will do it free as does your gp (but takes 3 days at some gps)

I think you should be proud!! your being sensible and careful, aiming to pay debts and be debtfree!! You also seem to prioritise what your spending money on which is great!!
If he has money tell him to pay the bar bill and equipment bill next time you `go on` he`ll soon shut up hehehehe
    Good luck

Maybe if you were to tell them your reasons they would understand??
You sometimes have to be blunt to get things through to people.
It may also stop your boss from wanting you to buy things for work purposes.
