What is a market researcher please?

I have seen jobs advertised as this and just wanted to know what exactly is it?...i always thought it was another title for telesales

Might be out right telesales being given a nicer name, or you might just have to annoy people into answering questions about their shopping habbits and what not. Either way its not going to be fun.

I'm a market researcher so there are honest companies out there (although as you suggest, some telesales do hide behind the term)

The two main jobs now are either being a telephone market researcher (calling people up and taking them through questions) or doing the same but either knocking on peoples doors or stopping people in the street.

to be honest the majority of commercial research is conducted online now so it would just be Government surveys that are done this way

If you have the company name you can always check whether theyre part of the Market Research Society to see if theyre legit
