My dh applied for a job on NHS online jobs back on 20/1. The closing date was 24/1. Well I have just been on and the "my applications" bit still says submitted with no option to remove it. does this mean he could still be in with a chance or by now prob not and it takes a while for the website to update?
Thanks

Could still be in with a chance. I had one NHS job where they came back after three months most apologetic, did I still want to be considered? Answer was "yes" but I had already removed it from my list (presumed unsuccessful), I had to ask the webmasters to reinstate it so that I could check the job description etc. I've also had others where it's taken a few months for the "remove" option to appear, I'm not sure what triggers that.:heartpuls Mrs Marleyboy :heartpuls

Could still be, it takes a while with some trusts.
There should be a named person on the advert to contact, try ringing them?

It does have a name and an email address. I'll try an email. It wouldnt surprise me if our local trust was extra slow lol. Cheers guys, least I know it can take a while and at least when that remove button appears I know it was unsuccessful. Better then no letter after 1 month like usual. The will to save every money saving penny we can0

Normaly NHS jobs reply (or aim to reply) to you within 6 weeks from the closing date of the job. I would definately keep the job application active at least until then (as you may need to revisit it for job description etc if shortlisted for an interview) - but as others have said it could take longer.0

My business works with a lot of trusts and lots of them are having to justify and new job or replacement along the lines of wiritng a "business case". That is, you have to write why the job is needed, why it can't be done from exisiting people etc etc, this can take a while and would apply to jobs at advert when this kicked in.

I applied for one in the first week of feb - Ending 5/2
Recieved a Letter on 13/2 offering interview on 26/20 -
Depends quickest I have had is 30mins after submitting an application, I was invited for the interview the day after and not so subtly saying the job was mine, or up to 4 months.0

*sigh*. Just got an email back, interviews were yesterday. So thats a no then. Back to the drawing board. Fingers crossed he passes his driving test next week, more chance of finding a job then. Its awfully difficult when theres a min earning amount due to childcare needs to find work. The will to save every money saving penny we can0

In my trust, we have to go through the approvals process before going to advert. These days, departments have been understaffed for months before they go to advert. Most wouldn't forget the closing date.
Recruiting managers can log on to the employers setion of NHSjobs to view applications and shortlist from this as soon as applications close. They send you an email to remind you too.
I don't know your position but the last job I recruited to for external applicants had 189 applications(for a band 2 post) and close early.
