  • Hi 40SM. All is not lost, fear not. Pizza Hut (which I don't heart but my DSs are not so fussy) is £4 for a pizza, side dish, and drink between 3pm and 6pm. Would that work for you? Still £30 ish including you but might be an option? Also Vue cinema here do an early showing at about 1030am for about £1.50. Appreciate there would be gap in middle but could you fill that with kickaround in park etc?

Failing that, take picnic to park (weather bit rubbish at mo tho...), make a cake and have that in park, do a treasure hunt, don't go out but have a sleepover in PJs and a movie and make pizzas at home......etc.....

    Anyway, hope this helps.....

Hi there Mrs, hope you sort something out. Would he be really upset if you had a movie and pizza day in at home, curtains shut, DVD's and buy/make some pizzas? I know it's not ideal but it's better than nothing?

    Hi IMD,

He is quite happy to spend his actual birthday at home with us ( infact that is what he wants).. However he wants a "big event " after with his friends:(.. Although he has not mentioned it today... so we shall wait and see:)

Bless! Being 10 is very socially demanding! (My neice is exactly the same, the birthday plans are getting bigger and more expensive every year)

There is no point in negative thought, it takes up time and energy which could be used in a positive, happy way!

just a thought do you have a wii or ps3 or some other kind of games consule (if not can you borrow one)?? if you do how about arranging a tournament. invite his friends around, move all the furniture in the front room against the wall so that there's plenty of space, draw up a poster size score sheet and blu tack to the wall, provide a table full of goodies (HM or whoopsied) some prizes and a lovely HM cake. then let boys be boys (with a little supervision now and again of course)
    Goals for February
    Declutter 2/50
    Money Made £0/£200
    Overpayments £0/£200

Yes we have a Wii. Trouble is DS wants to do that AND go out ..... thats what his friends do. They meet up at their house, play a few games on Wii, go bowling or whatever, and THEN have Pizza:).

Thanks for the suggestion. I am sure he will be happy enough with this...rather than have nothing :o

what a dialema, i was quite lucky with my 2 and parties as sometimes they wanted something like a party and others they didn't,

I have done starmacs Idea and had movies and popcorn at home with games.

you said he likes bowling, how about making one at home with plastic fizzy drink bottles and a football I'm sure your hubby could mark out something in the garden weather permitting of course or even in doors if you have the space,
    • 10 plastic bottles with some coloured tape around the top may be a few stones/bit of water in the bottom to make them steady maybe add stick some sports theme on them to
    • a ball ( with 2 boys I'm sure you have one
    • make some score sheets on the computar
    • somebody to keep scores and restand pins(sounds like hubby job)
    • prize for the winner (small boyish things like sweets /box of maltesas
followed by dvd of fav movies with popcorn and drinks and maybe some cheep lollies from Tesco u can get 10/12 from tesco for I think 49p. close the curtains set the scene and hopefully a happy bunch of 10year olds.

I sure you could turn you hand to some sandwiches and cheap fizzy drinks.

Do you know what this is one of my best idea's yet I think I might join it:rotfl::rotfl:but then again bunch of ten year olds or peace and quite (NO CONTEST):D

I found this to help you out (think of the fun) and DS1 could help also.
    Soda Bottle Bowling

<LI id=jsArticleStep1>Empty two-liter soda bottles to create the base for a simple, homemade bowling set . To mimic a real bowling pin set, you need ten bottles to create the pins. Fill each empty bottle with about an inch of water to add a little weight to it. This prevents them from tipping over too easily as you put them in place. To make the bowling pins more fun, mix a few drops of food coloring in with the water before pouring it into the bottles. Screw the top back on the bottles and add stickers for decoration. When all of the bottles have water in the bottom, line them up in the typical pyramid shape. A regular ball that you have around the house can be used as the bowling ball to knock down the bowling pins. Experiment with different balls to find which one works the best.
