Hi Guys,
This is a question on behalf of a friend who has recently purchased a house as a future investment. Basically shes wanting to know is it expensive to convert a solid fuel heating to gas heating? Also, who would do the conversion, external party or do the gas providers offer this service?
Many Thanks for any help!!

Found this useful link on the net that talks about getting gas converted, and also a link that helps out with available grants in your area depending on your requirements. Phoenix gas also offer the service of installing etc, but they dont mention a price. Does anyone happen to have got their home converted? Even just an estimation.
Many thanks again!

( apologies for links, as a new user im not allowed to post the actual links to prevent spamming :-( )
The only thing that was disheartening, was that the grants provided by Northern Ireland office, ie. Warm Homes Scheme is catered more for people on benefits0 -
Phoenix Gas doesn't offer an installation service - they just give you a list of approved installers (and then harass you to get on with it - at least that was what happened to us).0

Hi jenheiffer, gave them my details to ring me, apparently the address where my friend has purchased the property isnt piped for gas - but when they rang me today, it is and there is "a fault with the online service". The woman proceeded me the same as you, that they dont do the installation service, but they do lead the gas to the house for free. So just told me them that considering all costs between gas vs oil, hope this isnt the start of the pestering lol
did you get the gas in the end? was installation expensive?0
