Direct Debit Charity Donations Question

Hello
I was just wondering - Moon Beaver have recently demanded I pay back a preferential payment of just over £2000 to them. They've asked for details of my income and outgoings after I told them I can't afford to pay them anything.
I have regular donations set up paid by DD to a handful of charities. If charitable donations aren't classed as an essential outgoing could they demand that the amount involved (£47) be paid to them every month instead? Is this likely do you think?
Thanks

Thanks snoopy.

It was just something that popped into my head when looking at my outgoings. I hope they don't demand it anyway because I'd much rather it go to good causes than the OR.

I would very much doubt that you would be allowed to claim those under your soa, you could pay them out of your surplus you have every month, but they aren't really essential outgoings are they, even if they are for a good cause.0

Charity donations are not classed as essential expenditure. Therefore these could (in theory) be placed under consideration for a small repayment each month. I gather you are not on a IPA or any other agreement.0

Thanks for the info guys.

pepsi - I'm not on any sort of agreement with Moon Beaver, I've been caught up in my brother's bankruptcy case. Moon Beaver haven't sent me an SOA or anything like that.
I'm unsure whether to list the total amount in my outgoings - they'll see the separate amounts in my bank statements if they bother to check them properly. I suppose I'll just have to wait and see.0 -

Hi, in that case as you are not the bankrupt, I would just send a simple incomings and outgoings. I don't believe they have any legal right into demanding you provide them with your bank statements away- however I would get this checked. It might be best to get some advice from the CAB or your own advisor.0
