hi
my partner has a argos store card and has been paying the debt off but has admittedly missed a couple of the monthly payments. The last one being Jans.
Now he has started receiving calls from moorcroft who apparently now have the debt. He wants to pay the debt off and is no way disputing it. They have been ringing him constantly in work and unable to take the calls.
One he received cause they rang the main office of his work. They were due to ring back at 3pm and i had written out and income and expenditure list for him. But guess what they never rang back.
next few days he receives missed calls from them and wants to ring them himself, so i located a number for them and he called them. Never received a letter from them
He explained that he has little money and was willing to pay £10 per week off the debt till cleared. They stated they cant except that and want half off the debt paid that day. He stated that he has £0 balance, they then made him give his card number cause they didnt believe him and tried to take money from the account and seemed quite shocked the payment was declined!!
luckily he has swapped bank accounts so they will not hopefully be able use these details unlawfully
I told him to ask for a income and expenditure form from them, they seemed surprised about him asking for that, and said they cant send one.
They finally agreed on £10 thursday and £60 every month from next Friday. Even though he told them that after paying bills he only has £15 spare a week, without luxeries.
my main question is should he actually contact argos and see if this debt has actually been passed on, cause as fair as he is aware he wasnt actually in serious arrears with them. Also should he write to them and tell them he cannot afford the £60 p/m but will pay £40p/m.
He has the s/o details for them, i am a bit dubious about him giving his new card details over the phone. Also they asked for my name even though the debt has nothing to do with me.
I would love it if they try chasing me for the debt lol
any advice would be appreciated
sorry the post is so long

There are two ways of constructing a software design: One way is to make it so simple that there are obviously no deficiencies, and the other way is to make it so complicated that there are no obvious deficiencies0 -
Thanks darkconvict I will have a read
Woodbine, the debt is not mine as the card was taken out before we had met. Just like my £30k of debt is not his0
