Re basic bank accounts

Hi
Not sure if I am posting this in the right place..
I had my first telephone appt with CCCVA re an IVA and was advised to change bank accounts again as I changed to Natwest when I entered my DMP, however one of my creditors is Royal Bank Scotland and so I was advised to switch accounts again as they may take money from my account.
I made an on line application to CO -OP last night for a basic current account but this has been refused.
The other bank suggested to me was Barclays but I am scared to approach another bank to be refused... any advice please?

Do you know why it was refused? its very rare for a co-op cashminder to be refused providing they can verify your identity (its even available to un discharged bankrupts). Are you on the electoral roll? Are you certain it was the cashminder account?

I would go into barclays, they are very good at giving out current accounts to people with adverse credit - if you don't ask you won't get!0

Oh and as it was only a basic account it won't actually appear on your credit report (as there is no credit on the account) so applying to more than 1 bank won't make a difference in that sense.A smile enriches those who receive without making poorer those who giveor "It costs nowt to be nice"0

Hi ...
Might be worth reading info on this link (to another part of the forum):

thanks... the email said they did a check with experian and thats why it was refused.. now I am not sure if it was a cashminder account, I applied for one that had no overdraft or account charges etc so thought that was the basic account.
I thought that the Co-op were more understandable0 -
As suggested above I'd try barclays but go in branch to do it. Make sure you are very clear that you only want a basic account though (keep saying it so they don't try to get you to go for a higher account)A smile enriches those who receive without making poorer those who giveor "It costs nowt to be nice"0
