    thanks for replying moo2moo.

My mum and bf currently have both my cards but thats a good idea about freezing them. Thats a good tip about when im feeling down, i like making cards so i might do that in the evenings when i get the urge to internet shop. I just really want to be debt free now, i have relised that having the amount of debt at my age (22) is stupid but i did have a good time but now its time to grow up and take responsability and by taking this first positive step i hope its the many.

I sold some things on ebay and got about £30 which was pretty good for stuff that i would of just thrown away and i sold some games on Play and am using the money from that to get my hair cut

Well i have come on here to stop buying something on ebay that i dont need or want. Having a bad day today so am feeling the urge to shop.

Nothing new on the debt front, just waiting to get paid so i can make another payment. Am hoping to do a carboot with the Mr once the weather gets abit warmer as i have quite alot of stuff but its not worth putting on ebay because of postage etc.

I was naughty yesterday and bought a Boost from the machine for 55p as i needed a chocolate fix but i did feel better after it so it was worth it.

Getting my hair cut tonight after work and then off home to have some dinenr and either list some stuff on ebay or make a couple of cards.

Am going to see Alice in wonderland at the weekend, i know im supposed to be trying not to spend any money but its mine and OHs belated valentines celebrations as we had no money on the day and we like to try and do something at least once a month. Hoping to have time to go to the libary at the weekend as want a shopping fix but as i love walking round book shops i will feel the same at the libary as i used to love going when i was younger and i get to come away with something for free :j

Well i think i have rambled on for quite a while so im going to go back and get some work done but im sure i will be back later

    Bye for now

As you can see i am not doing very well. I currently pay £140 a month off my credit card as its such a small amount and any extra pennies i have i have started paying that off towards it too.

The fgures on my SOA are what im currently spening, the petrol can be less and is normally more £80 pm.

I mainly want to use my diary to try and sort my debt out at the moment and control my spending. I slowly slipped into my old habbits and have spend about £90 on clothes this month. I have stocked up on most of my toiletries from home bargains, wilko and savers so i shouldn't have to buy too much next month.

I still dont have a set budget per month for presents and car maintanence, i had to tax my car in april and i just did it as a one off payment, which is another reason why i dont have much money left to last me 3 weeks :(

So i have £55 to last me 3 weeks, in that time i am going to need some food as even though i live at home i still need to buy most of my own food, i will also need petrol.

I used top cashback for the first time at the weekend and i cant believe i went so long without it. Once the money is confirmed and paid into my account i will pay it off towards my credit cards.

Right well i think i should go as i have waffled on for quite sometime but im sure i will be back later

  • Hi all, This is my first time on here and am looking for some advice.
I have fallen into the debt trap and am struggling at the moment to get out.
I am managing all my bills except one. A catalog debt for £700. The debt got sold on and we telephoned the company offering £10 per week, We were told that wasn't enough and as we can offer no more at present I'm not sure what to do now. Any advice would be greatfully recieved!

    Hi Suz,
Well done for getting back on the non spending wagon.
I have an idea for you - why not review all those lovely toiletries you have on dooyoo.co.uk and get some money back for your reviews? You get 50p per review + pennies from everyone who rates you (make sure you rate them back too!).
Will subscribe to your thread and see how you get on.

    Hi Suz

I know how you feel about having so much debt at a relatively young age. I'm 23 and although my debt isnt as bad as others on here, I am stupidly bad at organising my finances so I've got myself into a right rut!

The only advice I can give is if you really want to make a dent in the figures, cut back on shopping on luxuries.

I know its much easier said than done but I literally had to do it as I didnt have the money and I cant remember the last time I brought myself any clothes at all or even treated myself.

Luckily my OH is the same and doesnt mind not going out too much but we did treat ourselves at the weekend to a meal out which was so nice because we dont get to do it often.

Its going to be really hard to be so boring but it will be so worth it once everything is paid off and you can start having fun with your money!

hi, sorry i missed your threads when i you first started here but i'd taken a step back on a lot of the boards.
Just some thoughts, you need to start budgetting for the annual costs such as car tax, maintenance, insurance etc otherwise you'll find your very skint when they come due or they go on the credit card.
have you found out the details about the scratch cards yet? they are on the 'up your income thread' i've probably made £130 last year from them, they've slowed down but by doing one from the St Minerva set and the Virgin one you're almost guarenteed £60+ each year for doing them each day.
Last year i also set myself the challenge to save the amounts that my till receipts said i'd saved. I saved well over £400 this way and it was money that if there hadn't been offers i would have spent anyway.
Another good thread is the payment a day thread, even if you just sweep the odd pennies on your daily bank balance onto a CC or something it all adds up.
Personally i also think you will probably be able to get toiletries much cheaper than going to Boots, i very rarely enter a Boots these days and that's generally only to get a mobile top up so i can get the points.

Good luck, though it's tricky it is possible to get debt free (well that's what i keep telling myself anyway)

Thanks everyone for your replies, they are very much appreciated.

Thanks Katy for the tip about Dooyoo, i will be checking that out tonight to see if i can re coop some of the money i have spent on toiletries.

lemon tree i have done daily clicks, are these the same as the scratch cards? There is so much you can do i find it all so overwhelming.

I agree Sara i really do think i just need to cut it all out for a few month so i can get in a better position, my motivation will be clearing my debt and working towards a deposit for a house.

I am trying to aim for as many NSD as possible this month, every day i have one i right it in my diary in big letters, it makes me feel pretty good lol :j
