Positive Experiences??

Hello everyone, new to the forum and have taken the first steps to contact CCCS; should have my pack soon. I've cranked up a massive personal debt over the years, but it's now time to address things and get this sorted.
I've read through some of the posts here and it's very scarey!! My best solution through CCCS is a DMP. Though Payplan are calling me tomorrow, good to have another opion!
My debts are with RBS, Barclaycard, Mint, MBNA, Halifax and HSBC. I've had the account for quite a while and they have always been in good order.
Has anyone had positive responses from these companies when first entering into a DMP? The situation has made me suicidally depressed to the extent I have sought help from my GP. I don't think I could now take any heavy handed tactic from these companies.

Hi - I don't know about those companies in particular but seeking advice and trying to deal with your debts has got to be a good thing.
One thing that's worth doing is if you have any debts with a company you have your main bank account with (or any account with credit in for that matter) is to open a new bank account unconnected to anyone you owe money to. This is because say you have a current account with an overdraft or owe on their credit card etc, you get paid and the company decides to take your wages - never mind the fact you were going to pay rent, the gas bill etc ,etc with it.
The banks can use this method to take money so best have a fresh bank account. If you have a debt with Rbs for examble you would need to avoid anything owned by RBS- so also avoid Natwest for example.
Co - op seem to have quite a good recommendation on here and I think they are independent. Make sure though that to get a basic bank account you tell the bank you want a basic account - no overdraft facilities - therefore they won't need to credit check you at all.
Good Luck

Hi,
I'm well done for facing up to your debts its the first step of many.
I'm with RBS, BC and MBNA. RBS and MBNA accepted straight away. RBS say it is there policy to not reduce interest to 0% but have stopped any charges and MBNA/Virgin have agreed and have frozen the interest and charges.
I am waiting for answer from BC so will be writing to them again and to RBS asking them to freeze the interest.
Maybe i'm lucky but it hasn't been too bad. I did ring up BC's and Virgins trouble making payments telephone numbers to let them know and they made a note on my accounts before CCCS letters had been sent. I don't knwo if this had helped?
Good luck x0 -

Hi Mandrakeball,
I'm new and just up to the token payment stage so haven't lots of experience but you don't have to take heavy handed tactics... CCCS will help you, all the lovely folks on here will help you as they have me, and you can ask your creditors to only contact you in writing...
Hope your GP has been helpful...[/QUOTE]

The only one from your list I had a positive experience with is MBNA although I seem to be the only one judging by many of the posts I've read on this forum over the last couple of years! And they are my largest creditor. Owed them 10k and they never hassled me and immediately accepted my dmp and have still kept interest frozen and I never hear from them.
Barclaycard and Hellifax were a nightmare with me to start with (I've been with CCCS since Jan 08) but eventually accepted my dmp but it was a bit of a struggle with them to begin with. You just have to ride the storm with them.Debt 30k in 2008.:o Cleared all my debt in 2013 and loving being debt free

One thing I did when I first started my dmp was to ring all my creditors, explain the situation to them, give them my CCCS ref no and say that they would be hearing from CCCS. From that point on, I told them that i would not discuss any further with them as they could see that they were getting all i could afford, therefore, any further conversations were pointless and that i don't take kindly to bullying.
I also said that I would not speak with them on the phone, that calls would go unanswered but be noted and would be reported as harrassment where necessary. I stuck to my word - they didn't! But they soon received complaint letters and they largely left me alone after that.Debt 30k in 2008.:o Cleared all my debt in 2013 and loving being debt free

Just a quick question... have you done a statement of affairs at any point? If you haven't might be worth it, as CCCS offered me a DMP but when I took a good look at my finances, all I really needed to do was tighten the belt a bit as I had enough to make the overpayments, I just wasn't focussed enough!0

Hi there.....everyones experiences seem to be different on here im afraid
My experience is Halifax and MBNA accepted them pretty quickly but HSBc are not playing ball at the moment.....ive been on a DMP since Sept 2009.
The phone will ring constant for the first few weeks and then it should calm down...just do what i did and unplug your house phone and dont answer your mobile unless you know the no....Hope this helps...
It does get easier i promise......x0
