Hi Folks
I am a little stuck for wording for invites that will be including a paper copy of our gift list. And no matter how I play around with it, I am not happy with the wording.
So could I have some of your opinions on it: -
All the gifts are available on our website as well - so this is for those who are not happy using the net etc.
Any sugestions would be fab.
Thanks
M

The most important part of us marrying,
is that you’re there to celebrate the day with us,
but if you'd like to give us a gift,
please find a copy of our gift suggestion list.

How about:
You are invited for your presence, not for your presents
But if you insist, here is our list0 -
How about...
"This wedding is costing us a bl00dy fortune, so you'd better cough up for one of these presents. Besides, I need some compensation for marrying <name>."
With <name> being the person most connected to who the invite is going to.
Probably best to do a toned down version for grandparents, etc, who might not get the sarcasm?0 -
HAHA very funny Jimmy :P That will make the new family like us0

love it!:t0 -
It might just be me, but sometimes I get a bit confused by poems in invites and miss the point of what they are trying to say! We went for a dull sentence something along the lines of If you would like to buy us a gift and would like some ideas, we have picked a few things we like or would like a contribution towards. We have made sure that there are lots of cheaper options on the list and broken any bigger items into chunks so that people can give a share of it. I hate getting a list through where everything is out of my price range.
Loads of people have already asked what we want and we haven't even sent out invitations yet! But the IF is really important to us as I don't care whether people buy us pressies or not (although they will be most appreciated if they do!!!)0 -

I know what you mean about the "IF" - I'm currently waiting for DF to agree with the following to go in our invites:
As we have a home filled with everything we need, we do not have a gift list. However if you insts, Thomas Cook or Debenhams vouchers would be gratefully accepted
(We combined two 3 bed houses over 3 years ago, getting rid of lots of stuff to charity shops and have no room for anything we do not already have!)0 -
