Has anyone ever used these vouchers & had problems with them on the High Street?
I was given aload last week as a prize - they were all perfectly valid and in date.
They've been accepted in the shops ive used them in, but the problem ive had is one of the shop assistants themselves....
They look at the vouchers and at whoever is trying to pay with a great deal of suspicion.
Its as if that because you are not using actual cash or a credit card etc...then you have to be viewed with suspicion/caution.
It seems to vary from shop to shop ive noticed.

I seem to recall there has been many fakes in the past but I thought they sorted that out0

I think sometimes you just come across assistants who don't know what they are/how to deal with them, especially outside of Christmas, which is when most of the vouchers are around. I've often had to show cashiers the little logo on their 'we accept' signage, or wait for a manager to come and show them what to do on the till.DFW Nerd no. 884 - Proud to [strike]be dealing with[/strike] have dealt with my debts0

There was a recent thread on here where someone had had problems with using them at an Argos because they still had Woolworths on them.
I have had assistants who haven't known what to do with them or whether they are accepted but I've never felt they were suspicous just ignorant or badly trained.
Perhaps you'll have to grow a thicker skin!!!:)0 -
I use these vouchers all the time. Never had any problem with them. Husband works for local authority so we get them so we can get 7 per cent discount at all the places of the top of the voucher. Every little helps. I think lots of shop assistants don't know about vouchers - tesco is a good example!0

I was told at Argos on Saturday that I'd have to send them back and get them reissued because they have Woolworths on them! There was a recent thread on here where someone had had problems with using them at an Argos because they still had Woolworths on them.
Will just have to try spending them somewhere else instead

Many shop assistants just aren't educated well on vouchers.
I used to work in a very well known store and we did accept many vouchers, but the only introduction we got on them was along side a whole heap of other information about how the tills work, how to manage the queue, shoplifters, arguments, health and safty and the importance of the head office visit. Its alot to take in in a 30 minute talk so most forget what has been told and instead rely on experience and even then theres alot to remember and alot can be forgotten.
Many vouchers can also easily be faked. It is very common and especially when the vouchers are just paper with a holigram image on them- very easy to fake I'd imagine- hence why most vouchers now seem to exist on a credit card style format not a paper format.
On a weekly basis we'd have reminders about fake vouchers and how common they were. It was drilled into us at our store anyway and it almost seemed odd that a voucher would be genuine by the time we'd had so many speechs on the matter! In a store the manager is assessed on how much money their store takes in, customer service or a clean store all come second and third beyond the income of the store. Thier profits are harmed by fake vouchers and they stand to lose money and bonus's if they do have too many fakes coming in, so they then drill their staff if any fake's do come in.
So really- don't take the voucher nazis personally- they are following orders of head office profit margins and trying not to get themselves into trouble or lose their pay. Its more about them and less about you. They often have a firey area manager breathing down thier back's.
If you do have any problems, I'd forward concerns straight to head office- maybe get to the right people or remind the companies that actually customer service should be what they worry about, not their profit margins!0 -
Just to let you know that TJ Hughes staff have apparently been told not to accept love2shop vouchers if they have the Woolworths logo on them.0
