Fixed rate ends in August - fiance wants to get a new job, is this wise?

Our 2 year fixed rate mortgage is up at the end of August. My fiance is stuck in a job he hates and it is really beginning to get him down.
He has been at his current job for about 6 years now, I will have been in my job nearly 3 years when our mortgage deal is up.
Is this true that you have a chance of getting better deals if you have been in your job for longer?
Any help greatly appreciated... we are currently on a high rate with GE money due to my fiance's bad credit history in the past and are desperate to benefit from a cheaper deal! On the other hand I hate to see my fiance so unhappy!
Thank you!

We are in a slightly similar position. My wife has been in her role for 5 years or so but I am working contracts at the moment. We want to move home, but she wants to move job. As my contracts come and go, we are slightly dependent on her good solid job, but it makes her unhappy. We have decided that her moving job to be happy is better than moving property at the moment and if we can leave that for a year or so, we can both have settled down...hopefully. I think mortgage companies are happy to see stability and will expect to see at least 3 months of paychecks usually...but this will differ I presume. So best to be settled and pleased with life before moving, as it may only put more pressure on staying in a role just because it pays the bills...and there is more to life than that!0
