Offline network printer won't wake up

  • Still having problems with this I'm afraid, in fact it's even worse now as I can't even install the printer on the network.

It went offline again last night so did the usual thing this morning of deleting it and trying to re-install but now it's not detected, I have turned it off and back on, the ethernet cable is definately connected to both the router and the printer but it just wont show up.

I could move back into the cold office and use it via USB but why should I, I'm wondering if it's related to the fact that I just changed phone and broadband supplier and am having connection problems.

Clutching at straws I know but I'm at a complete loss.

    Any ideas please?
  • Have you tried using BRAdmin light to try to set it up? And the manual is here

If you assign a static IP to the printer, and dont reserve that address in the DHCP settings of the router, the router could give out that IP address to another device; thus making the printer show as offline(it cannot use its IP address)

However, if you do not assign a static IP address, the printer will obtain a different IP address each time it connects....and you will have to keep deleting it, and re-adding it.

Simple, make the IP address high in the range, e.g. 192.168.1.150. It's really doubtful you'd ever have over 100 machines on a home network, so the router will never give it out.
