Value pasta now 32p for 500g, was 43p

After an age of food prices going up, at last a reduction! Value bags of pasta are now 32p at Tescos and Sainsburys, a reduction of over 25%.
Pasta is a staple "quick and easy" meal for us - we normally cover half a packet in boiling water, put a plate on top and microwave for 3 mins on full power. We then leave to stand for 10 mins with a tea towel wrapped around the bowl to keep in the heat before tasting and then draining off the water. Dead easy and saves heating up the stove - with pesto you can get a quick, filling meal for five minutes work and less than 10p per portion.
I'd recommend getting the Sainsburys pasta if possible as this is 100% durum wheat, which has more fibre, as opposed to the Tesco one which has some normal flour too.

thats great! i always buy pasta, even cheap pasta (but always durum wheat) i prefer to buy cheap pasta because at the end of the day - pasta is pasta! why spend 99p on a bag when you can spend 32p!!
its the sauce ect that you put on pasta that makes the difference!0 -
i would rather spend the extra and buy the quick cook pasta
(i just prefer that kind of pasta) :beer:In My 'Permanant' Pre-Masters Gap Year

Sadly though I remember when it was 20p per 500g

Anyway nice to see a price drop although I suspect it will be compensated in other areas - noticed their 12 pack of basic loo roll had gone up from £1.28 to £1.32. OK this is only 4p but it's annoying to see price fluctuations week to week <steps off soapbox>

Morrisons Value Pasta (Fusilli) is down to 32p as well.
As mentioned by the OP, both Asda and Tesco mix a cheaper wheat (soft wheat) with the standard durum wheat in their value range, and it really shows. Tends to just go soggy.
Sainsbury's and Morrisons both use 100% durum wheat, so you're getting a better product.0
