As good as GHDs?

My daughter has recently left home taking her GHDs with her, not sure which one I miss the most!
As my finances dont run to GHD prices, but I love the way they make my hair, can anyone recommend anything that is as good but without the hefty price tag?

I bought the babyliss ones (they are a deep red colour) I have thick curly hair and find them as good. They are currently half price in boots at £44.99. My hairdresser tells me they are going to start trialing the Ice diamond ones (think you can only purchase on line) they do a normal size and mini one for curling0

i have babyliss pro elegance ones and think they do just a good job as GHDs0

Remmington ones that go up to 230 degrees are imho better than ghds, I have curly/wavy long thickish hair, its all in the heat so dont go below 210 degrees which ever ones you choose:)Thank you for this site MartinThe time for change has comeGood luck for the future0

Sorry but I have tried so many different straightners including those remington ones...the truth is nothing touches the GHD's its just not worth wasting your money on the cheaper ones I did that , and landed buying them and GHD in the end, better to save until you can buy some0

Think i agree with snuggle here, I hadn't really realised how good the GHDs were til I visited my sis and borrowed her old straighteners (babyliss ones)..Mine aren't recent model, I got them a couple of Xmas's ago now, but I would say they're definitely worth the price tag!0

I have only ever used GHD's once, but my own pair were Argos Value range...think they were about a fiver and they are great..;)I HAVE NOTHING TO SAY;)0

I remember when i thought GHDS were just a name and a gimmick..could not believe the price and refused to be 'conned', so I bought remington wet staights, which were ok but they did damage my hair, they only lasted 8 months before they developed a fault, got them replaced and the same thing happened again!
so then i bought babyliss pro elegance and they were fine at first, but OMG they ruined my hair eventually.
Then my daughter bought GHDS, I tried them and 5 mins later I was online buying a pair!! I was wrong. not just hype, they are fantastic. I just bought the precious ones and they are worth every penny. other straighteners are no where near as good.
I agree with snuggle that you should save up for them if need be, you will be disappointed with others, especially as you have used them and know how good GHDs are.0 -
Thanks for all your advice, think I will be saving up! Mind you the money I will be saving on electric and water bills now my lovely DD has moved out should pay for some GHDs within a month or so!0

i own GHD's that i keep at my boyfriends but I also have a pair of Babyliss 230's at home and IMO they're as good as each other. If you buy something with a heat setting of at least 230 i think it will be fine.0
