I've already commented on a few things on your other thread on the Marriages board but THIS stood out:

You're paying over £1500 per year insurance on a car that's worth £300.
How critical is the car to you?

I've already suggested you keep a spending diary to identify where your 'supposed' £100 per month over is going to.
It'll pick up on all those odd coffees here, cans of pop there etc.
Until you know where that 'surplus' money is actually going, you can't do anything about it.
