Not that I know of (assuming her daughter is living at that address) you could look at the CIFAS site, this usually deals with people taking out credit in someone else's name but they may also cover this type of issue.
If debt collectors turn up they have no rights and your sister should tell them to leave. If baliffs turn up then don't let them in. If they try to levy possessions or a car belonging to your sister then she will need to be able to prove these belong to her.
Good luck, and hope your sister manages to get through to her daughter the seriousness of taking on debts she cannot afford to repay (maybe make her watch 'beat the baliffs')A smile enriches those who receive without making poorer those who giveor "It costs nowt to be nice"0 -
There is no way from blocking as far as i`m aware.
Your sister won`t be liable even though the debt ower is at the address so she don`t need to worry about being blacklisted or anything like that.
As Tixy has said debt collectors can`t touch anything of your sisters and can not gain entry unless they are let in SO don`t let them in!
Hope your niece comes round, quite scary if she is finding it funny.
What debts has she got and what are they for?
Sounds like she needs help xDebtFree FEB 2010!Slight blip in 2013 - Debtfree Aug 2014 :j

its starting to worry me as well as she doesnt take it seriously at all. she has a couple of store cards, a couple of loans, she has no phone as she defaulted on that one so she has just run up a huge phone bill on my sisters phone and she stole her brothers mobile and run up a bill on there which she will not help to contribute to, her unemployed boyfriend just encourages her, (love is blind) and she doesnt seem to think she is doing anything wrong. i agree she does need help, a great big kick up the backside0

Well I know this sounds harsh but maybe door stop collectors could be the thing to shock her into action. They would not actually have any rights but might seem scary to a 20year old.
I wonder if there is some way mum could sanction her? Increase her rent? refuse to cook any meals etc until brothers mobile is paid off. If she is going to behave like a kid then maybe treat her like one.
Has she been made aware that these little things are actually screwing up her credit report for the next 6years? She may look back at 26 and see it was not so much of a joke as she had thought.
Just as a warning considering what she has done already it might make sense for mum to keep an eye out for her daughter applying for things in mum's name. Daughter will find it hard to get new credit of her own now she has defaulted on the phone. In fact phone co's are often pretty quick to take out CCJs (well orange are). She may want to keep checking her credit report every few months or so or even registering on cifas if she thinks this may happen.
Also mum should be able to apply a lock to a landline whereby you have to enter in a code to use the phone (my dad did this for a while when we were younger:o)A smile enriches those who receive without making poorer those who giveor "It costs nowt to be nice"0 -
I would be so p1ssed at her if she was my daughter, I think I'd invite the bailiffs in and show them straight to her room and tell them to take the bloody lot!
Now there's an idea!
Can you, your sister and nephew take absolutely everything out of her room, I mean every single possession of hers, and store it somewhere whilst she's out of the house and when she comes back tell her the bailiffs have been? Just leave the wallpaper and curtains, I wonder what her reaction would be? Would it be enough to shock her into reality?
Hope that helps

what a great idea, i will suggest that to my sister, tho she is a bit of a softie, if she was my daughter i would do it, it might work you never know0 -
im sorry to say i would kick her out, espesh after she stole her brothers phone and refuses to pay it back, she is not a child but a 20 year old grown woman, who obviously thinks she knows it all, so lets see how much she knows living in the big bad worldIf we can put a man on the moon...how come we cant put them all there?

Hi
We need to separate out the roles of debt collectors and bailiffs.
Debt collectors have no right to vist you and are allowed to do so at a time and place of your convenience, if you want them. They cannot remove goods to cover the costs of unsecured debts.
Bailiffs are a diferent kettle of fish; if you let them in the house they can either levy on or seize goods to cover the debt. However, they can only levy on non-essential goods that belong to the debtor, not household goods or other items owned by other people in the house. Once they enter the house, they can re-enter anytime to remove the goods.
So as suggested above, the miscreant's bed and bedding would not be removed but her iphone would. If you've have not made a mistake, you've made nothing0 -
Your sister (and everyone who lives with her) should check their credit records and disassociate themselves from her, otherwise they may get hassle/have their credit records affected as well... my family had to do this with my brother who did something similar.0
