Default over 6 years old

I have a default on my credit file that although at the top of credit report is says defaults N/A down on my list of credit agreements it shows my defaulted agreement, I defaulted on Decmeber 2003 and the account was settled in Jan 2004, so why is it still on my credit file and who do I need to contact to get it removed?

It should be removed automatically, when it isn't..

You need to contact the credit references agencies, of which their are 3. And tell them it needs to be removed because it has been over 6 years since it was placed.

Ring first, but they might want a letter/email before they remove it.

Although no trees were harmed during the creation of this post, a large number of electrons were greatly inconvenienced.

There are two ways of constructing a software design: One way is to make it so simple that there are obviously no deficiencies, and the other way is to make it so complicated that there are no obvious deficiencies
  • Thank, thats great. I've just looked on my experian £2 credit report and my default is not on there but on my 'free trial' equifax it is. I'll give them a call, do you know if it will be removed straight away or does it take time?

Takes upto 30 days for a credit report to be updated. As its just the CRA you are contacting not the creditor, should just be 30 days.

As above, there are 3 agencies, and they hold different data based on what they are sent. So as you see your report looks different between them.
