Help npower

HIYA, Another dilema!

got into debt last year with npower. a massive bill came in for 3 months gas elec (about £1050).

i could afford to pay it and they wanted to put my monthly d/d up to £220 a month to cover arrears and future usuage! couldnt afford it so changed providers.

both gas and elec bills went to debt collectors after having bad experiences with them (BCW and moorcroft) told Npower that i would only deal with them and not the dca's.

they emailed me in dec and confirmed that they would revert the accounts back and moorcroft would no longer deal with it.

we set up payment plan which i have stuck to.

however, npower failed to inform moorcrift of this and 2 weeks ago sent a debt collector to my house!!!!!! the debt collector wasnt very happy as he could see clearly that i had a payment plan set up with npower directly as i showed him the paperwork!

i have emailed npower and still havent had a satisfactory response, and today got another letter demanding the money are court action!!! OMG, these people are idiots!

were do i stand with this???/ they have broken soooooo many OFT rules etc and are failing to repond to my complaints which i consider to be quite serious!!!

any thoughts on this matter???????

    Wow thats a high bill!!
I would not email but write recorded delivery, this way they recieve the letter and have to respond to a complaint.

Did you keep the npower emails regarding the dca`s not being involved?

  • Yes, i have copies of the emails npower sent saying they reverted the accounts back!!! Thank god!!!

  • to be honest, emailing is proof itself as it records the date and time sent plus npower send an autoacknolodgement saying they have receieved the email. I find this method much quicker, and cheaper! lol

    True.
I`ve had trouble with emailing in the past though. Not sure what to suggest but maybe a written complaint would help if email has failed to get an answer.

i suppose the longer they pratt about the better my complaint will be when i submit it to the OFT and OFGEN?

2.5 Putting pressure on debtors or third parties is considered to be oppressive.
2.6 Examples of unfair practices are as follows:
    c. using more than one debt collection business at the same time
resulting in repetitive and/or frequent contact by different parties
    d. not ensuring that an adequate history of the debt is passed on as
appropriate resulting in repetitive and/or frequent contact by different
    parties
    e. not informing the debtor when their case has been passed on to a
    different debt collector

These OFT guidelines might apply to this case, Moorcroft is no longer handling the case and as such should promptly cease contact with you. You could probably doa cease and desist letter with regards to DPA to Moorcroft telling them to remove all details they hold on you as they have no business or legal requirement to keep the data as they are not handling this case.

There are two ways of constructing a software design: One way is to make it so simple that there are obviously no deficiencies, and the other way is to make it so complicated that there are no obvious deficiencies
  • to be honest, moorcroft have actually been quite helpful, they responded straight away to my complaint, UNLIKE NPOWER, and in the end i had to email moorcroft and ask them to contact npower and get them to answer me!

I dont actually believe it is moorcrofts fault that npower did not inform moorcroft that the debt had been returned to npower, resulting in the debt collectors visit. however, on referring to the OFT guidelines that I got from the national debt helpline, a number of OFT rules have been broken, such as visit by debt collector without any notice to name one!!!

however, all being said, i am going to use this whole carry on to my advantage

  • still waiting for a response!! yawnnnnnnnnnnn!
