Advise Mortgage Lender of Change?

Hello
I currently have a mortgage on a property and live in it. I'm about to move overseas and plan to rent it out.
Do I need to advise my Mortgage lender? What happens if I don't? Are they likely to to change the terms and conditions such as up the interest rate? The lender I'm with does not offer a buy to let mortgage at present. Would they force me to change vendors?
Thanks

Yes you do- you need to ask for 'consent to let' - if they agree to it you will retain residential rates.0
