Endowment Misselling claim failure

Following Martins advice a made a claim against Prudential regarding my endowment. They have replied saying that sorry, nothing to do with them, it was bought through a FSA. Go to them. The FSA ceased business years ago, went bankrupt etc. Tried the FSA compensation people but as it was sold to me in 1986, they can do nothing. The endowment was for £20K and at the moment looks like there will be a shortfall of at least £6K, when it matures in 2012. Looks like I am stuck between a rock and a hard place !!!.
Other than taking legal action against the FSA personally, which I cant see being worth doing as he is a bankrupt, is there anything else I can do.
Sorry for the duplicate question, my sister has asked for advice as well.
