Best way to cancel credit cards?

Hello, please could someone advise which way is best to cancel my credit cards?

I have 3 cards, with zero balance. Is it best to write to all 3 companies at the same time, or one at a time with a month or two in between each letter?

Will either way affect my credit rating more than the other? We want to apply for a new mortgage later this year?

Why are you doing this .. have you had trouble with your cards?

cancelling a credit card will not, as such have any effect on your credit rating.
however having no CCs or credit in general will adversely affect your credit rating as there will be no evidence that you can use credit properly.

Have never had trouble with my cards or debt of any kind, but have now paid them off. Just wondered if it would be best to get rid now. Maybe keep one for emergencies?

if maintaining your credit rating is important then it's best to regularly use your credit card for normal spending (say petrol or whatever) and pay in full each month.
that will show on your credit record as some-one dealing with credit well.
