after over a year unemployed, i have finally been offered a job -
temp, most likely going permanment) via an agency.
am i right in understanding if the job lasts more than 5 weeks, i still get help with my rent for 1st month?
not sure if thats for perm jobs only..
Its going to be v v tight for first couple of weeks untik pay starts kicking in- paying for (new deal- 1/2 price, thank heavens!) rail ticket and the like..

On further investigation from Direct Gov:
Job Grant
If you have been claiming Employment and Support Allowance, Incapacity Benefit, Income Support, Jobseeker's Allowance or Severe Disablement Allowance continuously for more than six months and are starting work of more than 16 hours per week, you may get a Job Grant. A Job Grant is a tax-free lump sum.
You'll automatically get Job Grant as long as you're eligible. You just need to make sure you tell your Jobcentre Plus Office that you're starting work. You'll be paid in the same way as you were paid benefits.:jI am an Employment Law Paralegal and an experienced Human Resources Manager and offer my guidance as simply that ... guidance :j0 -
