Any scope for extra part time work ? Can you get 0% cc at all ?
If not this is a long term task to clear these debts, and really all you can do is stick at it.0 -
Lucy- do you not have a telly? You've no TV licence down. If you have a telly, even if you say you never watch it, you need a TV licence.
Also, have a look at the up your income board for other surces of revenue raising. Could you do mystery shopping or sign up for online surveys? they don't pay a fortune but those gift vouchers would be just the thing fore your present problem.0 -
I work full time, so getting extra work might be a bit much. However, I am hoping that business will pick back up a work (I work in the automotive industry) and we will all be given our temporary 10% cut back. Which while it isn't much will help.
I know I can do it, I just need to be inventive when it comes to making money. And given the amount of 'stuff' I have I should be able to have a good clear out and make some pennies on Ebay. And then there is simple things like making myself take lunch to work and not leaving the office at lunchtime, then I can't buy anything.
Oh and if I actually stick to my diet I will be slimming back into a ready made wardrobe, I wont need to buy more clothes.
I think it will be baby steps.Current debt - £16,300

Living with parents always help
It could be a lot worse for you right now if you had rent/utility bills on top!
There is not much you can cut back on apart from mobile and clothing.
CUT the cc up :A No more credit!!! Well done if you have stopped this.
Definately try and sell on ebay, do car boot sales if you can too.
Do you have any skills you can use for extra income ie, nails, hairdressing.

Hi Lucy, was just wondering where you were the other day - do you think I should do this more often and keep you here on the straight and narrow;)? Welcome back hun:grouphug:.
I would save the clothes money for car maintenance as I think you are maybe underestimating that one, or is there anyway you could live without a car?Mortgage OP 2025 £7550/7000Mortgage OP 2024 £7700/7000

Thanks Guys (Hi Skint how are you?)
Unfortunately I am tied to my mobile for another 18 months, but next month I should be able to reduce my contract as I never use everything I am paying for.
My 'other insurance' is for my loan insurance and also the care package I have on my laptop. Which at £6.99 a could easily do with out, as I think it is covered on the house insurance.
As for the christmas pressies, things looked better then. Not something I will be doing again.
But on a happier note.... managed a whole NSD today :T a very small baby step I know but we all have to start somewhere right? I've listed 4 things on Ebay and 3 have watchers, so hopfully they will buy.
Savingmummy - luckily my Mum does know I'm in debt (there's a very old thread about that somewhere
) which means she is very understanding and I am welcome to raid anything I think will make me money.
But I feel a little bit better tonight, and this time I'm not going anywhere until it's all gone

Hi Lucy, glad you are feeling a little better, you'll get there it just takes time and a little discipline.
If you are wanting to save money on lunches at work, my lot all take packed lunch, one thing I found usefull was to buy all the lunch stuff and make all the butties in one go and freeze them. Lots of cooked meats freeze well in sandwiches. Just defrost in the fridge the night before. If they want any salad or other stuff I add that in a seperate container put together the night before. Might help the last minute dash in the morning? Happy debtbusting!
