Does anyone know about this offer?

the company is mycitydeal, I am not allowed to post the link as a newbie though

and it's one of those that looks almost too good to be true?

I checked them our on Google, they seem legit

I signed up and then they sent me an email offering £10 for each friend I refer and they take up the offer?

Scam or not?

    SIMPLES!
  • Spam is rather harsh, I was just asking for advice from all the savvy shoppers here, no hidden intentions at all

    Thanks for nothing :(

It's hardly spam, they're asking for advice.

I came on here as I found this deal too, and wondered whether it's a scam.

What makes you say spam, have you dealt with this site before?
Some info would be helpful ;)

mycitydeal's aim is to make collective buying power the way of the future, and you can help jump start this by getting your friends, family and loved ones on board. Need an incentive? OK - we'll even reward you for your efforts BY TOPPING UP YOUR ACCOUNT WITH £10 FOR EVERY PERSON YOU REFER WHO TAKES PART IN THE NEXT OFFER! Can't convince them? Well they can refer people too - meaning that they can start cashing in just like you! It really is that simple.

ALL YOU HAVE TO DO IS JUST SEND US AN EMAIL WITH THE NAMES AND EMAIL ADDRESSES OF YOUR NEXT OF KIN, COMRADES, CRONIES, OR OTHERWISE, WHO YOU HAVE CONVINCED TO MAKE THE MOST OF OUR 'THANK YOU' OFFER.
But remember, you can only claim your free £10 if they actually take part in an offer!

    Here's how it works:
    1) Each day we feature something cool to do at an unbeatable price. Reserve your deal by clicking the "buy now" button and entering your credit card details.
    2) The deal only goes ahead if enough people sign up on that day - so invite your friends!
    3) If the required number of people signs up then the deal is closed! Only at that point will we charge your credit card for the deal. Once the payment is completed you will receive the voucher by email.
    4) If not enough people sign up, the deal is canceled. mycitydeal will not charge you for anything in this case.

despite the .co.uk address its registered to an address in Berlin. you are also supplying personal details to a web site that is not registered under the data protection act ( which they should be) I've searched under the address on the web site , their other address in Birmingham and by using the web site name

    http://www.ico.gov.uk/ESDWebPages/Search.asp?EC=3&Name=MYCITY*&Address=&Postcode=&SubDiv=&Activities=&Registration=

its also an insecure web page where you enter your credit card details (no secure padlock)

so basically you are supplying your full name and address , credit card number , expiry date and the 3 digit CVV (security code) over an insecure link to a web site that has no data protection registration that I can find and seems to be registered in Berlin

Well I go to Pret most days, so I signed up, paid my £1, received the card this morning and an extra £2.10 was put on it, so £12.10 for £1.
