Halifax to revisit claim

In early 1988 when we wished to borrow extra money on our then Halifax repayment mortgage a condition of the extra money was that we switched to an endowment (with Std Life as Halifax were linked with them at the time.)
3 or 4 years ago (I can find the paperwork ) we put in a mis selling claim to the Halifax and after a prolonged period were told that it was before the necessary date and there was nothing further to be done.
We left it at that but today a letter arrived saying they are going to look again at our case but that the outcome may remain the same ( I have no expectations to the contrary) but would like to ask a couple of questions:
1. they want to know our salaries at the time and we really do not know what should the reply be?
2. I have since found a letter from Halifax dated 1987 telling us about the benefits of switching to an endowment as there could be money left over after the mortgage was paid (no mention of it not paying it off!) should I include this?
3. Is it just a standard look again at cases? This policy pays out on the 22nd of this month so shall I still return all the paperwork, or is it really just too late?

Well just got back from 2 weeks hols and in the post was a letter from the Halifax saying they are going to uphold our claim!!
Do not know yet the amount as they have given us options how we wish them to proceed ??!!! will investigate in the morning and maybe ask for some 'advice'
Best news of all is I only put computer on to see if there was news from 16 year old DD in Peru and there was! Off to bed now...0 -
Well it's only me 'playing' on this thread I know but I thought I would bring the storey to a conclusion!... yesterday a cheque arrived for the Full amount to make up the shortfall on this policy ie £4900. Apparently calculations show that we have paid less having an endowment but nothing has been deducted from the compensation for this.
All I can say is well done to the Halifax.0 -
Just read your good news! Well done you!0
